"Botany is the basis of life",
Department of Botany was established in 1957 at former Urdu College Abdul Haq Road, Karachi. The department was shifted to its new building in Urdu Science College, University Road in 1969. Initially only up to graduate level education was imparted. From1993 Post graduate classes were also started.
The college was granted the status of university in 2002.
Mission:
The mission of the Department of Botany is to provide education and promote research in the area Plant Sciences, Agricultural Biotechnology and Environmental and Soil Sciences.
