The department of chemistry is the largest department within the university 24 faculty members and more than 1900 students. Currently, our department is initiating. M.Phil/Ph.D. programme through advance courses for strengthening and promoting the higher education system in Pakistan. Many students of this department are selected every year for M.Phil/Ph.D. programme at H.E.J Research Institute of chemistry on merit basis.
Presently, more than 15 students of the department are doing M.Phil and Ph.D. at H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry.
Evening program has been successfully launched for B Sc. (Hons.) and M Sc.
Students have been secured gold medals for their first class first positions for the two consecutive years.

The teachers and the students of the department of Chemistry have started a Club popularly known as U2C2. This club is actively engaged in many activities.
To invite eminent scientists and scholars for valuable lecture.
To arrange industrial tours for student.
To organize workshops and seminars.
To facilitate science culture in the students.
To publish a science magazine to help the students for increasing their interest in science and research.
To enhance co-ordination between students, teachers, scientists and scholars.
To organize, special programs on special occasion, for example, Independence Day, Pakistan Day and Defense Day.
To encourage students by awarding cash prizes, shields and certificates etc.

M. Phil/Ph. D. Program through Courses:
This program will be launched by the Department of Chemistry, in order to up-grade its standard and to achieve the heights, that will hopefully fulfill the demands of the new millennium.
Development of Projects: Our researchers are putting their fruitful efforts for the development of the basic and applied projects.
Research Collaborations: For the enhancement of the research activities and valuable outcome, different organizations are under consideration for effective collaboration.
