Department of Computer Science was established in 1990. It was headed by Physics' Head of the Dept. and a paper of Computational Physics was introduced at M.Sc. level. A Computer Science paper was introduced at B.Sc. level too. In 1999 it was separated and declared as an independent Dept. There were two Computer Labs. and one remained with the Physics Dept. The Lab. inherited contained 15 Pentium III with complete Networking facilities.

Further two Labs. were added each with 30 Pentium IV Computers with Networking setup. When the College was upgraded to University, a four-year B.S. Course, two years MCS Morning, three years MCS Evening Programs has been started and PGD (Computer Science & IT) Evening Program will start from August 2004.
Currently there are five teachers in the Dept.. In April 2003, Higher Education Commission accepted the PC-1 forms of about 60 million rupees for two projects. This Dept. has a bright future in front of it.
