The Department of Geology was established in 1954. At First only graduate programme was launched later on postgraduate programme was started in 1983. The faculty consists of ten qualified teachers among whom seven are enrolled in the M Phil/PhD programme.
The department has a museum that hosts some very good collection of mineral, crystal, rocks, fossils and models. In the museum there is a corner that exposes some very valuable collection of rare scared rocks and soils of Mecca, Madina and other sacred places, also department has a small seminar library but it contains valuable collection of books and journals.
The main objective of our faculty members is to groom the students in the four years BSc and two years MSc degree programme.
The department alumni are engaged in the prosperity of the country by joining and performing rigorous tasks in the oil, mineral, survey, construction, irrigation, dams, Nuclear and highway engineering industry both in the country and abroad.

The mission of our faculty members into produce highly trained geologists who are really worthwhile for the geological industry and society as a whole. This needs through appreciation of the knowledge of Earth Science.

The admission in the degree programme, BSc(Hons) and MSc commences in December.
Applicants seeking admission in the BSc (Hons) and MSc programme must at least have 50 percent marks in intermediate board examination and BSc University examinations respectively. Both students can apply the have pre engineering and pre medical backgrounds.
