Department of Physics is among the top most departments of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology. The department has experienced teachers in various branches of physics such as Spectroscopy, Solid State Physics, Computational Physics and Electronics. The standard established by the Dept. is due to the dedication and total involvement of its staff.

The Dept. always upgraded itself, whenever possible. In its College days, some of very important milestones are the inclusion of Physics at M. Sc. Level and establishment of Computer Lab. at a time when there was no sign of computers in various educational institutions.
The Dept. is a pioneer among Karachi Educational Institutions in establishing a Computer Network System. Dept. included the subject of Computational Physics at post-graduate level before Karachi University could do so.
For the last few years the Dept. is offering M. Sc. physics with specialization in Electronics.
The students of this discipline have constructed projects conforming to international standards. The standard of the projects has been recognized by the experts. These projects are also appreciated at the national level too and achieved a place in the National Network Television program.

The Dept. also has an Instrumentation Lab. which takes care of all the maintenance , repair of Lab. Equipment. This Lab. has constructed some of the Modern Equipment too.
A project is being proposed to provide research facilities in the Dept. In this regard the Dept. is trying to establish Spectroscopy, Solid State Physics , L.C.D. and Data Communication Research Lab.
